They will perform from 7-9 p.m. for the Texas Music Coffeehouse in The Lion’s Den at the Floyd Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center on the Schreiner campus.
Baca is a virtuoso on the bajo sexto (“sixth bass”), a guitar-like 12-string instrument, and has appeared in several PBS documentaries and on Austin City Limits. Farias plays accordion for Baca’s group and helped transform his family band “Los Hermanos Farias” into the Tejano super group “La Tropa F.” He became a member of the Tejano music hall of fame 2007. Baca and Farias, along with the rest of the band, won a Grammy for their 2009 CD, “Borders Bailes.” Their newest release is “Texas Towns Tex-Mex Sounds.”
The Texas Music Coffeehouse is series free and open to the public.
